History: being the fifth daughter to triton, arista was a princess. with that, she grew up in the castle in atlantica. a part of her always dreamed of exploring the open water though. as a girl, she was hopelessly curious always asking questions until her other sisters would grow annoyed with her. there was only one person that had never gotten cross when she babbled on about this or that asking random questions because they had suddenly dawned on her. that was her mother. arista looked up to her mother wanting to be just like her. it was all she could think about. she hoped one day to be beautiful just like her mother.
when her mother died, arista was a bit lost. she wasn't sure what to do with herself. her mother had always been so caring and patient with arista when her curiosity had gotten the best of her. arista also noticed that her mother's death had hurt her father. he seemed more stern and serious. the little blonde did everything she could to keep her father happy even practicing her music more. with her father's more serious demeanor, arista grew more quiet finding that she had no urge to know the answers to the questions she had.
there was only one thing that could lift her spirits as she got older. after her lessons were done, arista would go exploring through the ocean. traveling through worlds, she always made sure to be home before her father noticed she was gone. it was during one of these trips that she had been carried off with the horrible curse that had been cast upon the enchanted forest.
in storybrooke, arista became arianna pond, a party planner with a bubbly personality. the young woman was never resting as she figured idle hands did no one any good. she was good at her job, and she made sure to leave everyone with a smile on their face. arianna lived a lonely life though with no love or prospects of love. all she had was her business, and many would have called her a workaholic. she didn't mind it though as she just lived day to day enjoying the little things that came her way.
when the curse finally did break, arista was astonished that she was not only a princess but a mermaid as well. this was why she needed to reunite with her family. that was just the first curse. when they did finally returned to the enchanted forest, arista didn't know if she would be able to reunite with her family there or if they were even still looking for her. all she wanted was for her sisters and father to be back together as one family. the missing year left her clueless to what happened.
that is where she has been. arista knows who she is, and she also knows that her life in storybrooke has been eventful. all she wants now is to help those that helped her all while bringing smiles to their faces.
the freedom of the sea was what arista needed most at that moment. she enjoyed the feel of the movement of her tail as she sped through the water splashing about with her sisters. it was like nothing she had ever felt. still, she also needed her time alone to explore the seas and the secrets it held. this was why she had swam through the oceans until she found herself in what looked like another land. when she came to the surface, the entire world was black and white. her skin and hair seemed to be unchanged. it was quite peculiar. perhaps this world had something wrong with it.
arista's curiosity got the best of her as she started to swim towards the dock, where boats were tied up. the voice of her father rang in her head. humans were dangerous. humans fished for creatures in the sea. he didn't want to see one of his daughters snared by some fish eater's hook. still, the blonde couldn't just let a new world go unexplored. there was a chance that she had been there before, but she couldn't recall ever coming to a place like this. no, it had to be new. it felt new. what she wouldn't do to have her sisters there beside her to do a bit of exploring of the shoreline.
instead, she was stuck doing it alone. she would just have to tell them about it later in secrecy. she was sure that ariel would at least be interested wherever she was at that moment. smiling, she moved forward pulling herself to the dock listening to the sounds of men loading ships. it was a beautiful sight. they were all dreary in color, but even that couldn't take the life out of them, arista wondered what it would be to walk among them. there was one thing that stopped her from going too far on that plain of thought and that was the thought of leaving her family. she could never desert them. it was why she simply watched silently ready to swim away if anyone noticed the colorful blonde observing. of course, no one did and she eventually grew bored.
that was why she had decided to explore the land more swimming along the shoreline looking for something of interest which came in the form of a man. something about him drew her eye as she kept treading water letting her tail flick out every once in awhile wondering what he would do if he saw the mermaid with the bright crimson tail there watching him.
